Empower Youth Through Education at Radness Ensues

Fentanyl Free Oregon was proud to partner with Radness Ensues, a nonprofit youth empowerment center in Keizer, Oregon, to host a free, youth-focused awareness event that offered practical skills, honest conversations, and lifesaving information.

The purpose of this event was not only to tell young people that substances like fentanyl can be dangerous, but also to help them understand the complex nature of addiction and recognize that anyone can be at risk. Attendees heard a story of lived-experience story from Amber, a guest speaker who works at a treatment center and recently celebrated four years of recovery. Attendees also enjoyed an ice cream social and a free button-making activity, led by Radness Ensues’ founder, Becka Bonner.

Fentanyl Free Oregon received professional support and training materials from Salem’s Community Medical Services clinic, the nation’s leading provider of substance use disorder treatment, and Overdose Lifeline, a national opioid awareness organization and training provider. Community Medical Services also donated Narcan take-home kits for Fentanyl Free Oregon and Radness Ensues to distribute throughout the community.

Both Ryan Gail, Fentanyl Free Oregon’s administrator, and Betti Istre from Radness Ensues were quoted in a Salem Reporter article highlighting the event and the importance of youth awareness.
